IASIMUN final training

Participants from all around Iasi gathered Thursday, 19th of November at “Emil Racoviţă” National College for the last MUN training session. Unlike other previous meetings, the final one brought together delegates from all four committees. About fifty students from Iaşi met in the Festivities Hall of “Emil Racoviţă” National College in order to review the key points of the conference and receive strategies for success. David Pi, the MUN advisor, spoke about diplomacy and respect, but also encouraged shy participants.

IASIMUN advertised in the local press

Nu sunt oameni politici, dar vor sa demonstreze ca stiu ce se intimpla in marile organizatii din lume. Elevii de la Liceul “Emil Racovita” organizeaza un training despre activitatea Organizatiei Natiunilor Unite din lume.

200 de elevi din intreaga tara sint invitati sa isi asume rolul de ambasadori ONU si sa propuna solutii pentru diverse probleme cu care se confrunta omenirea.

Anual, peste 200.000 de elevi din intreaga lume se intilnesc in cadrul conferintelor Model United Nations, in care sint dezbatute subiecte de interes international. La Iasi, evenimentul are loc in perioda 28-30 noiembrie. Organizatorii evenimentului sint elevii de la Liceul “Emil Racovita”.

Madalina Secareanu, elev: “Este o conferinta de simulare a Natiunilor Unite, modelul Natiunilor Unite si
presupun dezbateri academice, dar si dezvoltarea unor abilitati oratorice, de prezentare, initiere in tehnica negocierii, a negocierii conflictului, dar si a compromisului diplomatic”.

Peste 200 de elevi din intreaga tara sint asteptati sa participe la trainingul despre activitatea ONU in lume.

Prof de lb. engleza David Pi, membru Corpul Pacii: “Ideea de ONU este foarte veche si  a inceput in America acum 50 de ani. Si aici am vrut sa incep proiectul de ONU pentru ca am avut experienta multa despre cum sa cerceteze despre tara lor si despre cum sa faca si cum sa scrie o rezolutie care este un document in care se explica cum se rezolva problemele”.

Intrunirile vor avea loc la liceul “Emil Racovita” din Iasi. Participantii vor vizita si cladirile culturale din oras.

Prof. Paula Gavrilescu, director Liceul “Emil Racovita”:  “Scoala noastra dispune de initiativa, de deschidere, dispune de resurse uname necesare organizarii acestui eveniment care consta intr-o simulate a Natiunilor Unite. Este o experienta care se bazeaza pe niste competente formate in scoala, competente ale elevilor, care le permit mai departe dezvoltarea unor initiative care sint necesare in zilele noastre”.(Mariana Mutu, Rafael Racaru, 6 octombrie 2009)

Extended Application Deadline

Hello Applicants,

We are pleased to announced that we have received a wealth of applications from qualified students around the country and we are in the process of making decisions on these applications.

On Tuesday, the IASIMUN Team has a unique opportunity to meet with a group of journalists for an official press conference, in cooperation with the Iasi Inspectorate, to discuss our project. As a result of the publicity we are expecting to gain from this event, we have decided to extend the application deadline until October 9th, 2009. This is intended to give people an opportunity to apply if they learn about IASIMUN through the press conference. However, the deadline extension is valid for any and all applicants.

Applicants will hear back from us no later than October 11th.
