About the Press Corps

The IASIMUN Press Corps will serve to keep delegates updated on what’s going during the Model United Nations conference by publishing a newspaper at the end of each conference day.

The newspapers will include news articles about issues that MUN delegates are debating, feature articles about delegates, opinion pieces about controversial subjects, photos, and graphic art. Additionally, the editorial board will publish an OpEd about its stance on issues up for vote.

The Press Corps will operate out of a newsroom at Colegiul National Emil Racovita and will use Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom in the production of the daily newspaper. The Press Corps will also attend and report on daily press conferences organized by the IASIMUN secretary general and committee chairs.

The Press Corps will also update and maintain IASIMUN’s website, providing updates about the conference before, during and after it happens. We plan to post video, photos, interviews and stories. The published newspapers will also be available online in PDF format.

Features Editor:
Ioana-Gabriela Gorgoi – Bucuresti
My name is Ioana-Gabriela Gorgoi but all my friends call me Monica. I am 18 years old and I study at “Mihai Viteazul” National College in Bucharest. I’ll be serving as the Features Editor of the Press Corps for the IASIMUN conference. As a feature writer I managed to strike a balance between my two major passions: literature and journalism. For me, feature articles represent a land of subjectivity in the vast and deep waters of objectivity considering the fact that, in feature writing, the way you convey your message is as important as the message itself. Serving as the Features Editor in Barlad, during the “Journalists of Tomorrow” Summer School, one of my goals was to develop a close relationship with my fellow colleagues that would enable us to cooperate in a stimulating yet relaxed work environment. Since I’m a perfectionist, I’m looking forward to contributing to the success of this project. You may contact me by email at monyoana_3000@yahoo.com or by mobile phone at 0726655143.
