Mr. Pi Speaks About IASIMUN

He is confident regarding MUN, he has big expectations from students and he considers the whole Romanian experience to be overwhelming. One more hint: he is the coordinator of IASIMUN. He is Mr. David Pi!

Wanting to take a closer look at the subject, we interviewed him. That’s how we found out that IASIMUN is one of the many ideas of extracurricular activities Mr. Pi had in mind when he arrived in Romania. Although it was difficult to get the program started, as he confessed, because no one knew what it was all about, in the end, a handful of students began the training for conferences.

Asked how he sees the students from Romania in comparison with the ones from the US, Mr. Pi told us that they are pretty similar, having the same anxieties about what’s next in life and how to succeed. “As Romania becomes more connected to the world through the media and internet, I think we will find that the youths here will identify more and more with the global community of youths. They all want to fit into their respective societies and feel like they have talent and something to contribute — and they do.”, sustained David Pi.

Having a wide experience in MUN, with a presence to more than 10 international conferences, Mr. Pi still believes in the things learned there. “I loved the experience in MUN. It was one of the motivating factors that led me to become a Peace Corps volunteer” he confessed.

With a large number of teachers and students involved in it, he sees the conference held at “Emil Racoviţă” National College a great event for the community, also considering that the experience acquired in it will last a lifetime. He hopes to make IASIMUN a tradition that will carry on in the following years.

“The main purpose of IASIMUN is to think about global topics from new perspectives and feel inspired to work for positive changes in the world.” David Pi declared.
